The green careers have emerged as a shining light in a generally bad economy. While other corporations are struggling, green companies are looking forward to a better year. Green is not only emerging, it will be sustained for a long time. It's an industry that will stretch across all economic lines.
There exists a variety of "clean-energy" jobs that require only a high-school degree or less, including roofers, electricians, insulation workers and sheet-metal workers, among other occupations. Green investments can lead to far-reaching outcomes that ultimately reduce unemployment.
Five hot green jobs available today:
1. Landfill gas plant operator
2. Solar panel installer
3. Wind turbine machinist
4. Green engineer
5. Green builder
Some industry wise results shows:
I) Solar industry is facing shortage of skilled worker. Career oppurtunities in solar businesses are expected to grow by an average of nearly 50 percent over the next 12 months.
II) Wind industry has seen an increase intake of more than 85000 skilled workforce in 2008.
III) Carbon regulation has seen sudden demand for skilled manpower also carbon cap-and-trade program has already created lot of oppurtunities. There is shortage of skilled staff in the expansion of energy efficiency programs, which is financed by power companies who are paying for their carbon emissions under this programme.
Some of the existing Green Oppurtunities that needs immediate workforce are:
1)Farmer: Since sustainable agriculture operates on small-scale and is local and works on organic methods rather than petroleum-based machines and fertilizers, there is a need for more than 10 million farmers.
2)Forester: Foresters help local people transition from slash-and-burn to silviculture-- teaching cultivation of higher-value, faster-growing species for fruit, medicine or timber
3)Solar Power Installer: Making and installing solar power systems already accounts for some 770,000 jobs globally. Installing solar-thermal water heaters and rooftop photovoltaic cells is a relatively high-paying job--$15 to $35 an hour-- for those with construction skills.
4)Energy Efficiency Builder: It has seen recommendation of nearly $89.9 billion investments in financing Energy Efficiency Buildings which will go to create 827,260 jobs in green buildings –
5)Wind Turbine Fabricator: This industry currently employs some 50,000 , and 10000 more is needed
6)Conservation Biologist: There is an urgent quest to preserve the integrity of ecosystems around the world – and to quantify the value of -- ecosystems services -- leads to opportunities in teaching, research and fieldwork for government, nonprofits, and private companies.
7)Recycler: There is need for specialized companies that can close the loop by recycling and repurposing e-waste, clothing, plastic bags, construction waste, and other materials has created more opportunities
8)Sustainability Systems Developer: There is need for Coders with experience of using large scale enterprise resource planning have an edge here, as well as developers familiar with open source and web 2.0 applications.
9)Urban Planner: Urban and regional planning is a linchpin of the quest to lower carbon footprint. Employment in this sector is projected to grow 15 percent by 2016, and the jobs are mainly in local governments, which make them a slightly safer bet for the downturn.
10)Finally a Go getter: Person who really believes in change to
happen in Global Warming Intiatives and is able to participate in it to make it possible.
